Ryan Wood Leads Jersey Fresh CCI3* Dressage

Ryan Wood sits in the Jersey Fresh CCI3* lead after dressage.

Day two of the Jersey Fresh International Three-Day Event in Allentown, NJ, saw the completion of CCI3* dressage and the start of CIC3* dressage. After a sunny day of competition, Australian rider Ryan Wood sits atop the CCI3* leaderboard with Powell on a 43.6. “He did a really solid test,” Wood said. “He is a big, fancy-moving horse and didn’t have any mistakes. There were a couple places where it could have been a little more polished, but I am pretty happy with him.”

Not far behind Wood was Allison Springer with Cascani, riding to a 44.3. Looking forward to cross-country, Springer stated: “I think it is a good course. It is always funny coming from Kentucky to here because you’re like, ‘oh that’s not too big—wait— that’s plenty big enough!’ I like it. I really appreciate all the improvements that Jersey Fresh has put into it.”

Will Faudree and Pfun will run cross-country in third place with a 45.0. “I am very happy with him today,” Faudree said. “He basically has moved up to Advanced this season, but he has been really good. This year, he has gotten more rideable in the ring each time out. He is not the biggest, flamboyant moving horse, but he is just—he has such a great brain and working attitude.”

In the CIC3* competition, Caroline Martin and Effervescent currently lead the way with a penalty score of 50.0. “He is a really, really good horse,” Martin gushed. “He is honest and good through the dressage—he has taught me a lot in the dressage so I’ve been able to learn from him and teach my other horses.”

Matthew Brown and Talking Point BCF sit in second place with a 53.4 and Joe Meyer and South Paw are currently placed third on a 54.8, with the remaining four riders to compete tomorrow.
