Photo Contest Helpful Hints
Equine Journal is welcoming the warm weather with the annual Fall Photo Contest. Send us your favorite photograph of your feisty winter ponies, tell us about it, and you could win a $150 gift card to Back On Track—we select a winner weekly! Submit your photos using our online entry form found here and make sure to read the contest rules before clicking ‘enter’.
To kick off the contest, we are helping out our readers with some hints on how to up your odds.
- Safety first!
EJ strives to promote proper equine safety, so unwrap your hands from those lead ropes and trade those flip-flops for close-toed shoes before snapping your shot.
- You must legally own the picture.
We do not accept show photos taken of you by professional photographers.
- Stay away from watermarks.
Not only do they distract from the overall photo, but they show that the photo was taken professionally.
- No filters needed!
Playing with the saturation levels and filters may be fun, but they can easily make an amazing photo look artificial. Stick to the originals, or as close to it as you can be.
- The bigger—and clearer—the better.
The larger the photo, the higher the resolution, the clearer the photo.
