Have you ever gone to a public swimming pool and seen a sign that says: “NO DIVING, NO RUNNING, NO HORSESPLAY.” What is “horseplay”? With horses you might say its “Equine Roughhousing” or the way horses play with other horses. With humans it also means playful roughhousing. Why is it forbidden for humans? Often when we engage in horseplay someone gets hurt.

$25,000 Landgero Cup Grand Prix, $10,000 Jumper Classic, $10,500 Junior/A-O Jumpers
Skidmore College Saratoga Classic Horse Show (SCHS), a World Championship Hunter Rider Event, has typically been a relegated stop on many hunters’ schedules. Over the past few years, SCHS has been adding jumper classes to accommodate professionals who have clients in both disciplines. Jumpers will be able to compete in the $25,000 Landgero Cup Grand Prix and the $10,000 Jumper Classic, as well as $5,000 1.40 Open Jumper, and the $10,500 Junior/A-O Jumpers.

The 20th Annual Green Mountain Draft Horse Association (GMDHA) Horse, Equipment and Tack Auction will be held Saturday, May 4th at the Addison County Fairgrounds on Route 17 in New Haven, Vermont beginning at 9 am. This farm and family friendly event brings together horsemen and women from all over New England, New York and Canada, as well as people who just want to soak in the sights and sounds of living history and get great photos of big horses and colorful people.

The Arabian sport horse community met, fell in love with, and lost a magnificent mare in 2012. Rakhassa Bey++++// (Sundance Kid V x Bonwood Splendor) earned the coveted top spot in the Achievement Awards program as High Point Horse, in addition to earning her Legion of Masters and Legion of Excellence in her first and only rated show season, a feat never before achieved. Sadly, "Kassie" was lost during colic surgery in October.
