Director, Equestrian Program
IHSA Hunter Seat Coach
Where do you coach and how long have you been there? I am the Director of the Equestrian Program at Goucher College in Baltimore, MD. I began working at Goucher in 2007 as Assistant Director shortly after graduating college. In 2012, I was promoted to Associate Director and in 2013, to Director.
What makes you proudest about your current team? I am proud of them for many things, but the thing that stands out the most is their dedication. They will ride for hours, without stirrups, in a snowstorm in our covered arena during spring break vacation, then ask to ride more. They certainly have worked hard for the success they’ve received.
Were you an IHSA rider in college? If so, who did you ride for? Yes. I rode in IHSA for Lynchburg College in uber competitive Zone IV, Region II.
Who was your mentor/inspiration as a young rider and why? Every instructor I had up through college felt like a mentor to me. I had such amazing, knowledgeable and inspirational teachers. Riding is such a great anecdote to life – I have always had great success taking the lessons I’ve learned from horses and applying them to other areas of my life.
What has been your most memorable IHSA experience? Definitely coaching our team to a Zone Championship!
