Invitation to the NASS 2009 Breeding Inspections
The North American Shagya-Arabian Society cordially invites you and your horse(s) to participate in the NASS Eighth Inspection of Purebred Shagyas and Shagya-bred horses September 15 through September 21, 2009.
Besides the inspection for breeding approval, this event will include evaluations of non-breeding Shagyas and Part-Shagyas, branding of purebred Shagyas, learner judging, Shagya demonstrations, a NASS annual meeting and seminar presenting breeding groups, and a chance to commune with fellow Shagya lovers.  
NASS is very pleased to announce that our invited foreign judge for this year's tour will be the ISG President, Mr. Ahmed al Samarraie from Germany.

According to international Shagya breeding regulations, all Purebred Shagyas, Shagya/Arabian crosses, and Purebred Arabians must be inspected and approved for breeding by an ISG member society in order for their offspring to be eligible for registration as Purebred Shagyas. NASS believes in utilizing this necessary inspection process as a vehicle for Shagya lovers to get together, show off their horses, and learn from each other.
Breeding Inspection fee per horse remains at $200 for members and $230 for non-members. Evaluation of your horse (not for breeding) remains at $50 for members, $80 for non-members, and can include potential breeding horses, geldings, and NASS registered Partbreds.  
In order to be inspected by NASS your Purebred or Partbred Shagya must be registered with NASS. If your horse is a Purebred Arabian, it must be registered in a WAHO recognized registry. If your horse is not yet registered with NASS, your horse can be registered for a total of $50 for members or $80 for non-members.  
Horses are presented at halter standing up and "on the triangle", sport-horse style, at walk and trot, and are free lunged at canter/gallop. Stallions over the age of two are also required to free jump. Wither height, cannon bone, and girth measurements are also taken.
Branding of NASS registered Purebred Shagyas with the official patented ISG Shagya brand, which can only be worn by Purebred Shagyas registered in an ISG member registry, will also be available for $30 for members and $60 for non-members.
At each site we will also offer an opportunity for your horse to participate in an optional "interior test," in which your horse is led past a few items in the arena and a commentary describing the horse's reaction is developed.  This test is rather new and is being used by some societies, including that of our senior judge, Mr. Ahmed al Samarraie. This year will be an opportunity for us to try it out with our horses and learn more about it from Mr. Ahmed al Samarraie.
Furthermore, each and every one of you is cordially invited to bring your Shagya-bred horse just for fun, to show what you do with your horse, be it riding, driving, jumping, dressage, Western, breeding, or maybe just admiring.
NASS usually can afford to have an Inspection Tour once every three years, so take this opportunity to participate, to show off your horses, learn more about the breed, and socialize with fellow Shagya lovers!!
