Maine Appaloosa 40th Anniversary Show
The Maine Appaloosa Horse Club’s Annual State Show was held August 28-30, 2009.
Wow! What a show! The weather was beautiful with the exception of Saturday. We lucked out with just wind and rain (temps looking like snow) but heard no complaints from the exhibitors who know you can’t control the weather. Mike Grass, Show Manager, says it’s the biggest show since our Twenty-Fifth Anniversary show. We had about 90 horses and huge classes running between 12 to 20 entries in a class. The exhibitors were trying to win one of the many Rider’s Choice Awards, Lucky 13’s or a Ten Dollar first place as well as national points. Those exhibitors not eligible for prize money received other donated products like shampoo, vitamins, detangler, scoops and grain. The lead-line winners won a mini tote bag full of horsey things.
Friday night we held our Wine and Cheese Social. This year, with all the donations for it, we were able to add to the menu and served four platters and also all sorts of Cedar products. The party was held in the fairgrounds park giving people a chance to sit or mingle and chat. Saturday evening was the night for the Down East Lobster and Clam Bake (catered by Helen’s Restaurant.) It was absolutely fabulous and had about 75 people attend.
Sunday was wrap up day; the High Point Awards were Weaver Texas Star and Pretty in Pink Headstalls, and Reserve High Point Awards being Monogrammed Bridle Bags. Total monies paid was $2,650.
