Len Judd’s Unique Methods
That Thursday was a day set-aside for younger high school students – an event sponsored by the Hinsdale Prevention Coalition. Students who had never ridden before were given the opportunity to work with horses and learn from Len. His humor, high energy, and no-nonsense approach, was further authenticated by a brassy Australian accent. Len grew up in Ebor, NSW Australia where he was first introduced to horses at the age of three. His experience growing up on a ranch and emulating the teachings of Maurice Wright, Kel Jeffrey as well as Bill and Tom Dorrence, led Len to a greater understanding of what it means to be a horseman. “I don’t train horses, I’m not a horse trainer,” Len began. “You can’t train an animal to be something that it already is.” Len’s methods were both unconventional and unstructured, instead Len worked with horse and rider as individuals in varying circumstances – one of which was driving the farm’s two steer. These exercises strengthened the bond between horse and rider as well as enhanced everyone’s confidence. Len’s weekend clinic was a great success for all who attended. “What I learned about horses this weekend is immeasurable. What I learned about life and myself was profound,” says clinic attendee Lori Bartashevich. “I was fortunate to be witness to Len’s depth of understanding, caring and sharing about life – not only of the horses’ lives, but of the lives of all the people who attended this clinic.” “Four words come to mind when describing the recent clinic: inspirational, educational, spirtual and bonding,” notes returning attendee Diana Couture. “Len Judd has a special gift that allows him to reach into a horse’s heart, soul and mind uncovering any issues.” To attend Len Judd’s next clinic at AnimalFitness this September 18-19, please visit www.animalfitness.com. On April 22, professional horseman Len Judd visited the home of his good friends Paula Fitzpatrick and Jack Kibbee, a husband and wife integrated veterinary team, who practice at their Animal Fitness Farm in Hinsdale, NH. Paula invited Len to hold a small horsemanship clinic of about 20 people that would last until Sunday, April 25.
