Kentucky Arabian Riders and Breeders Society (KARABS) June 2010
Our club’s annual horse show, the Medallion, is now only days away. The show is two class A shows held over two days for two regions in one location, Roberts Arena in Wilmington, OH, on June 12 - 13, 2010. The weekend promises to be fun for the exhibitors, their families, and the show staff. On Friday evening, KARABs will sponsor an exhibitors’ pizza party. On Saturday, Susan Witte will judge the Medallion I, and Sport Horse and Dressage classes will be judged by Dagmar Zimmerman. Sunday’s show, Medallion II, will be judged by James Brown and will again include National Show Horse and Show Horse Alliance classes.
KARABS member Stacey Burdick-Taul and her horse Comandr-N-Chief +// represented KARABS and AHA Region 14 at the Kentucky Equine Youth Festival held March 19, 2010 in the new indoor arena at the Kentucky Horse Park. The event celebrated the upcoming Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games and featured live demonstrations of each of the eight events of the Games. Stacey and Chief provided a wonderful demonstration for dressage and they are well qualified to do so. Stacey and Chief were Reserve Champion Prix St. Georges ATR, Top 10 Fourth Level AT and Top 10 Fourth Level Open at the 2009 Arabian Sport Horse Nationals. Chief also earned a Top 10 in Prix St. Georges Open. Participation in events such as this showcase the versatility of the Arabian horse and helps to promote the breed and local AHA clubs. We extend our thanks to Stacey and Chief!
KARABS would like to congratulate member Julie Gressel and her mare Jacquelynn Bey Z. Jacquelynn was named USEF Region 14 Reserve Champion Arabian Sport Horse and Reserve Champion Arabian Hunter Pleasure Open.

Congratulations to member Cindy Ryan on her recent purchase of the three-year-old filly EVA Augustine (August Bey V +++/ x Ghazelle), bred by Duane Esser. Augustine is very sweet, with a wonderful temperament and movement to match.
Foaling time is here. Are you expecting a little one? If so, it would be great for all club members to share in your joyful event and there’s nothing wrong with doing a little bragging! So if you have any new babies, please send a birth announcement and photos to Cindy Ryan at cbeckryan@aol.com for inclusion in future articles and publication on the club website. Also, if you’ve recently acquired a new equine family member, let us know.
