Tom was determined to create a turnout blanket that was both breathable as well as waterproof and would fit a horse properly without slipping. His hard work and continued efforts led to the creation of the Rambo® Original – the first fully waterproof and breathable Turnout that really worked.

The Rambo® Original was an immediate success, growing to be the world’s best selling turnout blanket. Its design has notably become an industry standard and has grown into a full range of Rambo® products that exist today. The Rhino® line followed shortly after and is catered to the equine athlete for maximum protection and durability without sacrificing comfort.

Until late 1998, the European company, British Distributors, distributed Horseware® Products whose corporate office is located in Dundalk, Ireland. After the purchase in 1997 of Triple Crown Custom, a well-known blanket manufacturer in the United States, Horseware® Products began searching for their very own facility based in the states.

The owner decided on a location in Kinston, North Carolina, which was ideally located near an airport. After making the move, the company suffered a number of unexpected natural disasters. First, hurricane Floyd hit their North Carolina plant, resulting in thousands of flood damaged blankets. Next, a fire hit the head office in Ireland, which totally destroyed the plant. Lastly, there was an outbreak of foot and mouth disease in the British Isles. These times appeared grim, but owner Tom proclaimed: the company had suffered from flood, fire, and pestilence and so things could only get better.

With a newfound hope and unrelenting motivation for the future, Horseware® Products continued to bring their customers the highest quality equine clothing, never faltering from their key policy: “Innovation not imitation.”

Over the next few years the company restructured and diversified. A human clothing line was introduced followed by the purchase of a larger facility located in Ireland.

Horseware® Products then introduced two new lines to the market – the Amigo® line and the Rambo® Quarter Horse line, which is designed with the western horse in mind.

Horseware® continues to expand its product lines. A full range of leather strap goods, saddle pads, luggage and accessories are available. Horseware® uses some of the most advanced technology with the intention of serving a variety of clients and their many needs.
