HEAP Awards Top Cat Farms
Top Cat Farms, located at 91 Parker Hill Road, Killingworth, CT, is pleased to announce that they are the proud recipients of the 2009 Horse Farm of Environmental Distinction award. This award recognizes environmentally friendly barns and is presented annually by the Horse Environmental Awareness Program (HEAP). HEAP is a coalition of federal and state agencies, organizations and individuals interested in protecting the environment by educating horse owners on good horse management practices.
The farm recently competed in the Mystic Valley Hunt Club Spring Show 2009 and at the Westbrook Hunt Club’s USEF Centerline June show. Theodore, owned and ridden by trainer Marty Whittle, achieved scores of 62.3% in three classes at second level dressage at Mystic Valley. Heart of Gold (owner S. Adams) achieved scores of 62 and 63% in First level classes at the Mystic Valley Spring show, and 66% and 64% at Westbrook Hunt Club’s show. The farm is proud of Crossing Jordan’s (owner M. Whittle) 60, 62 and 62% scores at Training level at Westbrook’s show, and of Moving On’s (owner B. Spearrin) Training level score of 65% at Westbrook as well.
