The next in the current series of evening courses running through Post University’s Equine Department will start on Monday, March 29 at 6:30 p.m. This course is the companion course to the popular Stable Management II course, and covers topics ranging from safe handling procedures and grooming, to tack fitting, bits and bitting, boots and bandages. The Stable Management I course will also cover advice on recordkeeping and insurance requirements and include some practical components in a barn. There will also be discussion on legal considerations and other aspects of the horse industry.

Any horse lovers and owners who wish to learn more valuable information about efficient and responsible stable management are invited to apply for this course. The Equine Husbandry series of courses can be taken in any order and are open to anyone interested – no pre-requisites are required. Each course runs for eight weeks, one evening per week for three hours. Students can earn CEU credits or take the courses for personal enrichment. Stable Management I will run Mondays, March 29 to May 17, 2010 from 6:30 p.m. – 9:20 p.m. on the Waterbury Campus of Post University in MacDermid Hall room 103 (exit 17 off I-84 – park in North Lot on Country Club Road).

Post University’s Equine Department understands that while it is easy to find a place to ride, it is much harder to learn how to look after horses well. This evening class series addresses this problem, as they are planned to cover the information horse owners require. Other courses in the series include The Horse, Basic Horse Ownership and Care, Stable Management II, Equine Health, and Equine Anatomy. The series runs in a cycle throughout the year, and continues in May with Stable Management II.
