Alltech Shares Innovation
One of the leading animal health companies in the world, and first ever title sponsor of the World Equestrian Games, Alltech shared their inspiring secrets to overcoming a year of global crisis through their 2010 Lecture Series, “Bounce Back.” Beginning the 21-stop tour of the nation on January 10 and ending January 22, the tour followed the theme of Kentucky Wildcats Basketball Coach, John Calipari’s book titled Bounce Back: Overcoming Setbacks to Succeed in Business and in Life.
Based on the Alltech “Bounce Back” model, which implements ten key points including the importance of education, innovation, application, and branding, the Alltech Lecture Series discussed how the company was able to increase sales and growth while improving their product at a time when many were struggling to stay afloat. The series included presentations by Dr. Karl Dawson, director of worldwide research, Dr. James Pierce, Dr. Mark Lyons, Dr. Paulo Rigolin, Dr. Juan Tricarico, and Dr. Pear Lyons, founder and president of Alltech.
Among the many topics discussed, Dr. Karl Dawson described how Alltech is using research to discover new and efficient enzymes by using technology to study their specific affects on an animal at a molecular level.
Celebrating their 30-year anniversary, Alltech boasts facilities in 100 countries with 2,000 employees, including the new facility that opened last year in Clovis, New Mexico. Alltech has continued to “Bounce Back” through multiple programs including an emphasis on education via its Young Scientist Award, started in 2005, which encourages students to join the company and gain experience in the search for natural solutions in animal production.
Alltech’s ability to thrive despite global setbacks may be best proven by its sponsorship of the 2010 World Equestrian Games.
“It’s an opportunity of a lifetime,” says Dr. Pearse Lyons, founder and president of Alltech. “It’s an event of a lifetime.”
This year’s event marks multiple firsts for both Alltech and the World Equestrian Games (WEG), set to take place from September 25-October 10. Alltech took on the role as first title sponsor for the World Equestrian Games four years ago and have been building the experience since.
The state of Kentucky donated $100,000,000 for renovations to the Kentucky Horse Park in preparation for the World Equestrian Games, and the results are impressive. With over 60 events, including Alltech’s innovative Fortnight Festival – two weeks of live performances by local musicians and artists – the 2010 World Equestrian Games will not only be the first in the U.S., but the first of its caliber.
Dr. Lyons expects the games to reach five times the TV audience of the Super Bowl. “One third of Americans either have a horse or have touched a horse,” he says. Bringing the World Equestrian Games to the U.S. means adding an American flair, offering demos in barrel racing, rodeo, and an opening show on how the horse shaped the country. Attendees can expect the event to include the shopping opportunities of a tradeshow, something that has never been done before at the WEG.
With all this extensive planning, Alltech has continued to live up to its commitment to the environment, making the 2010 WEG a “green” event.
