2009 was Great for Dreams Come True Farm

What a fabulously successful show year 2009 turned out to be for Dreams Come True Farm (DCTF) Friesians, Carlisle, PA. Their 2005 year-old Tsjerk mare, Sjaantje, was in training with Griffin Sport Horses [Gretna, VA], so DCTF ventured into the horse show world under the auspices of the best: Bruce and Staci Griffin. Sjaantje, a long-tailed beauty, became a showgirl, ending the show season in St. Louis, MO.

In August the Ohio Valley Friesian Horse Association held it’s first Annual Friesian Classic Horse show at the Fair Grounds during the Ohio State Fair. Griffin Sport Horses’ Sjaantje, blue ribboned in the three and older mare halter class [eight entries] and then took her on to win the Championship Halter class that day, even besting the boys! Another GSH accolade was that DCTF’s 2008 Teade filly, Carlee, won the two-year-old and under filly halter class, again with eight entries, with two-year-old Zoë having a third in that class.

DCTF owners, Gail and Tom Aumiller, also flew to St. Louis, MO, for the International Friesian Show Horse Association’s 2009 World and Grand National Horse Show, held October 28 - November 1, 2009 at the National Equestrian Center, Lake St. Louis, Missouri. The previous year Gail and Tom had been there as spectators and distinctly remember thinking how much fun the exhibitors were having while showing their exquisite black horses. That started Gail dreaming that some day she would have a showy Friesian mare and the opportunity to have that experience.

Sjaantje won three World Championships and two National Championships with Bruce and one Reserve World Championship and two Reserve National Championships with Gail riding in walk/trot classes!

Sjaantje won World Championships in both her halter classes: Junior Mares and Baroque Junior Mares. Driven by Bruce Griffin, she won the World Champion Friesian Carriage Working – Single – Jr. Horse and the National Champion Friesian Carriage Pleasure Working – Single – Open classes. Hoping to eventually drive in carriage classes, Gail was game to take the reins and drive her mare in one of their championship victory laps. As the ridden horse in Bruce’s signature class, Tandem Riding, Sjaantje and teammate, Tiana, won that National Championship, too.
