2009 SEHA Finals

The Southeast Hunter Finals were held Sunday, September 13, 2009 at Saddle Rowe Farm in Medway, MA. The association started the finals day in 1996 and the show has grown to include five medal finals and the additional ring offering a full selection of classes, which is affiliated with USEF, NEHC and MHC.

This year the weather cooperated and the turnout was terrific. The outside ring was host to the regular classes as well as the Walk-Trot and Short Stirrup Medal Finals. Classes were large and judge Carla Sharp of Easton, CT, was busy all day making her choices.

In the indoor ring the Mini Medal, Junior Medal and Adult Medal classes ran smoothly with a classic offered prior to each medal final. A formal course walk was offered to riders to allow them the opportunity to learn the course. Ellie Raidt from Wellington, FL, was the judge and at the end of the day complimented all the riders on their strong showing.

The show committee presented coolers, ribbons, bridles, halters, medals, flowers, jackets and saddle pads to the top ten riders in each final. Many of these awards were sponsored and the committee would like to thank them. Hunters Brook Stable, Briggs Stable, South Shore Equine Clinic, Marina Cesar DVM, Cape Cod Hunter Horse Shows, Fieldcrest Farm and Caitlin Venezia were most generous in their sponsor support this year.

Champions this year were: Laurie Vaz in Walk Trot, Courtney Germain in Short Stirrup, Catherine Kenny in Mini Medal, Gina Virga in Adult Medal and Michael Janson in Junior Medal.

Show Manager, Nancy Venezia, would like to thank everyone that made the finals a great day – Pat Larsen, Elaine Fernandes Powers, Stacey Ferguson, Jacqui Gazzara, Megan Asauji, Richard Hopkins, Tom Hill, Ken Mahoney, Cathy Grady, John Bahret, and Edward Morkis DVM and the Lombard Family at Saddle Rowe.

Michael Janson, 2009 South East Hunter Junior Medal Finals champion.

Laurie Vaz, 2009 South East Hunter Walk Trot Medal Finals champion.
